MAIN THEME: LIVING IN HARMONY

The main topic of the event  is determined as “Living in Harmony”. Deriving from Turkey’s location at the junction point of three plant geographies, it is intended to draw attention to different and opposite lives in nature, especially in Anatolian geography.

  • ORIGINS OF HORTICULTURE
Many ornamental and agricultural plants that humanity uses derived from the three plant continents which meet in Turkey. Under this theme of the exhibition, the plants that previously spread out from this geography to the World will be observed.-Olive, Almond, Wheat, Pear, Plum, Apricot, Cherry etc. Between 2021 and 2026, investments will be made for the reproduction of ten other plant species living in this region and will be introduced to the World as new ornamental plants.

  • SEED RESILIENCE
This section will be devoted to the philosopher Anaxagoras of Izmir, Urla, who made the first definition of the seed as a substance on earth. Here, innovative projects and innovations will be included to protect the seeds from the past in the new global economic system, and the seeds will be exhibited in a display area made in the form of Noah's Ark.

  • CLIMATE RESILIENCE
Cities in the Mediterranean region such as Izmir will experience even more water stress in the coming years. In such period, landscaping with less water-consuming plants is one of the most important issues in the World. In this section about the future of landscape, climate-friendly horizontal and vertical landscaping examples will be discussed and exhibited.

  • THE FUTURE OF HORTICULTURE
In this section, the future of landscape design will be positioned as a “collaboration” that considers climatic and other natural conditions, rather than being a creative process alone. Application examples of basic approaches such as “Location specific desing tehniques”, “Turning micro-climates into sustainable gardens” and “Design: Shifting from creation to cooperation”, “Gardens for food” will be presented.
